About Me

I am a licensed psychotherapist (CA license # Psy 21721), expressive arts therapist, soul activist, community builder, and mom.

I love yoga, gardening, doing my own personal and spiritual growth work, and swimming in oceans, rivers, and lakes.

Florie has an extraordinary quality of presence. Her ability to fully meet the person in front of her is unparalleled. Add to that a deeply compassionate nature along with a broad knowledge base and you have a professional equipped to foster healing and growth in all those lucky enough to find her.” Tim Willison, Ph.D., MFT, Psychotherapist

Education and Training

I earned my doctorate in clinical psychology from John F. Kennedy University in Pleasant Hill, CA, an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited program, in 2006. My training included year-long rotations in an outpatient clinic for survivors of sexual trauma, a middle school providing counseling to at-risk youth, and a senior residence, helping elders with end of life issues. I completed an APA accredited internship at Trenton State Psychiatric Hospital in New Jersey, and worked my post-doctoral year in the student counseling center at Adelphi University in New York.

I worked as a staff psychologist in the student counseling center at UC Davis from 2007 until 2014 and began private practice in 2009.

Other experiences that inform my work include living and traveling in India and Nepal, Central and South America, Thailand, Russia, and the South Pacific; my constant involvement in my own personal growth work and ongoing training; two years at Interchange Counseling Institute; parenthood; my spiritual practice; and coming through my own struggles.

Florie has taught me to hold space for my feelings through her practice of holding space for me. Florie as my inner wise woman is purely nurturing, present in exactly the way I need, gently supplanting my anxiety as necessary, friendly and welcoming to the helpful voices who show up in my life and mind. I’ve come to embody her beauty: through her love, compassion, and joy, I’ve found my own love, compassion, joy, and equanimity. –Former Client
